Before using our services, please read the following Policy and Terms of Service carefully.
1. Service Request and Scheduling
1.1. To request a service, you can contact us through our website, phone, or email.
1.2. We will make our best effort to schedule an appointment that is convenient for you.
However, appointment availability is subject to our service team’s schedule.
1.3. By scheduling an appointment, you agree to provide accurate and complete information
regarding your garage door issue, including the make and model of the door if
required/requested.
1.4. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the driveway and garage area are clear of
any items and vehicles prior to our technician’s arrival. Failure to do so may result in
rescheduling the appointment or additional charges for the time required to clear the area.
1.5. For safety and liability reasons, Garage Door Fix technicians will not enter attics or
crawlspaces to facilitate repairs or installations. All work must be performed in accessible and
safe areas.
1.6 We understand that the individual present during our service visit may not always be the
one who booked the appointment. This is acceptable; however, the person on-site will be
considered the designated ‘adult on-site.’ This adult is required to be present to approve the
work and settle the invoice unless prior arrangements have been made with our management
team. Adult children or spouses are therefore authorized to make decisions regarding the work
in collaboration with our technicians upon their arrival.
1.7 If the individual booking the appointment will not be on-site and requests a call from our
technician upon arrival, it is their responsibility to ensure they are available and able to take the
call promptly. Our technicians cannot be expected to wait for extended periods to receive
approval for work. In such cases, at our discretion, we will proceed with the work as booked and
invoice accordingly, or the time spent waiting will be charged in accordance with our ‘waiting
time’ policy.
By using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide
by the above Policy and Terms of Service. If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact us for further clarification.
2. Cancellation and No-Show Policy
2.1. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours prior
to the scheduled appointment time.
2.2. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment may be subject
to a cancellation fee, which will be determined based on the nature of the service and our
team’s incurred costs.
2.3. No-Show Policy:
2.3.1. A no-show appointment occurs when our technician has been dispatched to or arrives at
the scheduled time and location, and the client is not present or has not provided access to the
property to perform the scheduled service.
2.3.2. If you fail to show up for a scheduled appointment or fail to provide access to the property
without notifying us at least 24 hours in advance, a no-show fee will be charged. This fee covers
the technician’s time, travel expenses, and any inconvenience caused.
2.3.3. The no-show fee will be $50, which must be paid before rescheduling the service
appointment.
2.3.4. Repeated no-shows may result in the requirement of a deposit or full prepayment for any
future services.
2.4. Waiting Time Policy:
2.4.1. If our technician arrives on time for a scheduled appointment and has to wait for the client
to arrive or to provide access to the property, a waiting time fee may be incurred.
2.4.2. The first 15 minutes of waiting time will be provided at no additional charge.
2.4.3. After the initial 15 minutes, a waiting time fee of $50 per 15 minute increment will be
charged.
2.4.4. The total waiting time fee must be paid in addition to any service charges before the
completion of the service.
2.5. Garage Door Fix reserves the right to waive the cancellation, no-show, or waiting time fee in
exceptional circumstances at its discretion.
3. Warranty Policy
3.1. We stand behind the quality of our work and offer a warranty on repairs and installations,
excluding sensors alignment.
3.2. Unless otherwise specified, the duration and coverage is typically one year parts and labor
for all materials that we supply and install
3.3.1. Sensor alignment is NEVER covered under warranty due to the sensor’s sensitivity to
environmental changes and physical obstructions. It is not uncommon for garage door sensors
to get bumped and become misaligned and this happens frequently after a repair, when there is
an increase in activity and traffic in the garage. We will test the open/close function of the
door after every service with the adult on site to confirm that the sensors are aligned and
working properly when we leave. Once we are off site, they become the responsibility of the
resident to maintain/troubleshoot etc.
3.4. Materials and workmanship for weather stripping and rubber seal installations are covered
under warranty unless otherwise disclosed at the time of service but no warranty can be made
regarding their ability to keep the garage vermin/weather/watertight as they are only there to
provide protection from those factors and the performance is influenced by factors like level of
the floor/frame/building as well as the grade of concrete or floor surfaces.
3.5. Modifications and Third-Party Interference:
3.5.1. The warranty is void if any parts installed by Garage Door Fix are modified, altered, or
tampered with in any way.
3.5.2. This includes, but is not limited to, having another company service the door, or the
homeowner adjusting, programming, or otherwise modifying the components related to the
provided service.
3.5.3. Any unauthorized modifications or adjustments made to the installed parts will result in
the nullification of the warranty.
3.6. Limitation:
3.6.1. Only the specific parts installed by Garage Door Fix are covered under warranty. Any
other components of the garage door system not explicitly addressed in the service or
installation are not covered.
3.6.2. Repair or replacement of a specific garage door component does not guarantee the
overall lifespan or health of the entire garage door system.
3.7. Warranty Service Availability:
3.7.1. Outside of emergencies, which will be determined by the Garage Door Fix team at their
discretion, warranty service will only be offered Monday through Friday, between the hours of
10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
3.7.2. Clients must arrange warranty service appointments within these specified hours. Any
requests for warranty service outside of these hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis
and may not be accommodated.
3.8. In the event of a warranty claim, please contact us promptly. We will assess the issue, and,
if covered under warranty, repair or replace the affected parts accordingly (excluding sensors
alignment)
3.9. In the event that an issue with the garage door or its components is discovered, it is the
client’s responsibility to cease use of the door immediately and to report the issue to Garage
Door Fix promptly. Garage Door Fix will not be held liable for any additional damage or injury
caused by continued use of the door after the issue has been identified. Any further damage
resulting from the use of a malfunctioning door will be the sole responsibility of the client.
Repairs needed due to such additional damage will be carried out at the client’s expense.
3.10. Warranty End Date from Installation Date:
3.10.1. The warranty provided by Garage Door Fix begins on the date of the initial installation
and is valid for the specified duration as outlined in the warranty terms. The warranty end date is
calculated from the installation date, irrespective of any subsequent visits or additional services
performed after the initial installation. Any warranty claims or services rendered during the
warranty period do not extend the original warranty end date. Clients should ensure they
understand the specific duration and coverage of their warranty at the time of installation and
retain all relevant documentation for reference.
4. New Garage Door Installation Warranty Conditions
4.1. Warranty Coverage:
4.1.1. Garage Door Fix provides a warranty for new garage door installations to cover defects in
materials and workmanship.
4.1.2. The duration and coverage of the warranty for new garage door installations will be
clearly specified at the time of installation.
4.2. Exclusions:
4.2.1. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidents, alterations,
modifications, or improper maintenance.
4.2.2. Damage resulting from acts of nature, such as storms, floods, earthquakes, or other
environmental factors, is not covered under the warranty.
4.2.3. Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to scratches, dents, and paint fading, are
not covered under the warranty.
4.3. Installation Compliance:
4.3.1. The warranty is contingent upon the garage door installation being performed by
authorized technicians of Garage Door Fix in accordance with manufacturer specifications and
industry best practices.
4.3.2. The installed garage door shall be leveled and aligned properly, even if the floor, building
structure, or frame is not perfectly level or aligned.
4.3.3. Any adjustments necessary to ensure the proper leveling and alignment of the garage
door shall be made by Garage Door Fix’s technicians during installation to maintain warranty
coverage.
4.4. Regular Maintenance:
4.4.1. To maintain the warranty coverage, the homeowner must ensure regular maintenance of
the garage door system as recommended by Garage Door Fix.
4.4.2. Failure to perform required maintenance, as outlined in the manufacturer’s guidelines or
provided by Garage Door Fix, may result in the nullification of the warranty.
4.5. Warranty Claims:
4.5.1. In the event of a warranty claim related to a new garage door installation, the homeowner
must contact Garage Door Fix promptly.
4.5.2. Garage Door Fix will assess the issue and, if covered under warranty, repair or replace
the affected components or materials as necessary.
4.6. Limitation of Liability:
4.6.1. The liability of Garage Door Fix under the new garage door installation warranty is limited
to repair or replacement of defective materials or workmanship as determined by Garage Door
Fix.
4.7. The customer agrees to provide adequate space for the installer or repair technician to
work efficiently and safely during the installation or repair process.
5. Crooked Garage Door Floors and/or Frames
5.1. Garage Door Fix is committed to ensuring the proper installation and leveling of your
garage door. However, in cases where the floor, building structure, or frame is not perfectly level
or aligned, our ability to achieve perfect alignment may be limited.
5.2. Our technicians will make every reasonable effort to level the garage door within the
constraints of the existing structure. The installed garage door will be leveled to function
properly, even if the surrounding floor or frame is not level.
5.3. Clients should be aware that the appearance of the door in relation to an uneven floor or
frame may result in gaps or aesthetic irregularities. These issues are beyond our control and are
a result of the pre-existing conditions of the structure.
5.4. Any additional work required to rectify such structural issues (e.g., leveling the floor or
reframing the opening) is not included in the standard installation and will be the client’s
responsibility at their own expense.
6. Estimates and Acceptance
6.1. Estimates provided by Garage Door Fix are formulated based on the information provided
by the client at the time of assessment. It is essential for clients to provide accurate and detailed
information regarding their specific needs and requirements to ensure the accuracy of the
estimate. However, Garage Door Fix reserves the right to adjust pricing accordingly if the
circumstances upon further inspection are found to deviate from the information provided by the
client. Such adjustments may be necessary to reflect the actual scope of work, materials
required, or any unforeseen challenges encountered during the service provision. Clients will be
notified promptly of any necessary adjustments to pricing, and approval will be sought before
proceeding with the revised estimate if possible.
6.2. If there are any major structural changes or alterations to the property between the time of
the quote and the commencement of work, Garage Door Fix reserves the right to adjust the
pricing.
6.3. Once an estimate is accepted by the client, no changes can be made without approval, and
any errors within are the responsibility of the client. Corrections or upgrades will be made only at
the client’s expense. Acceptance of an estimate constitutes a legally binding contract for Garage
Door Fix to provide the services and for the client to pay the agreed amount.
7. Complimentary Services
7.1. Occasionally, and at our discretion, Garage Door Fix may perform complimentary services
for our clients.
7.2. These complimentary services are provided as a goodwill gesture and do not carry any
warranty or guarantee.
7.3. Clients should understand that any complimentary service offered is outside the scope of
standard service agreements and is not subject to the same terms and conditions as paid
services.
8. Pricing and Payments
8.1. We strive to keep all standard prices for our services clearly posted on our website;
however, they are subject to change without notice. Prices at the time of service will apply and
will be confirmed by the technician with the adult on-site prior to commencing work.
8.2. Payment for services is due upon completion unless other arrangements have been made
in advance. Accepted payment methods include cash, debit, email transfer, or credit cards (and
for commercial clients only: pre-approved checks).
8.3. We provide free over-the-phone estimates based on the information and photographs
provided by the customer. These quotes are prepared using the details visible in the
photographs and the information provided. Please note that the quote is subject to change upon
our technician’s arrival if there are factors or conditions not visible in the photos or contrary to
the information we were provided. In such cases, the technician will notify the customer
immediately and receive approval for any adjustments to the quote.
8.4. If there are changes to the door or situation between the time the photographs are provided
and our arrival, the quote is subject to revision accordingly.
8.5. If we arrive and confirm that the on-site conditions align closely with the original quote but
the customer chooses not to proceed with the repair, we reserve the right to charge a late
cancellation fee. This applies when the quote changes for any reason listed here
8.6. If any payment is not received within the agreed terms, Garage Door Fix reserves the right
to apply late fees and/or suspend further service until the outstanding balance is settled. For
customers with net accounts, payment is due promptly upon reaching the agreed turnaround
time.
Late Payment Fees
Outstanding invoices may incur a late payment fee to cover additional costs, up to and including
the cost of collecting the debt through third-party collection services or court fees. This policy
ensures that all payments are handled efficiently and fairly. Customers are encouraged to
communicate promptly with our management team if they encounter any issues regarding
payment to avoid late fees.
9. Special Orders
9.1. Special orders will be held for 14 business days. If the order is not picked up or scheduled
for delivery within this period, the items may be restocked or resold unless storage fees are
paid. 9.2. Deposits for special orders are non-refundable, as stated in the original contract.
Storage and restocking fees will also apply as outlined in the contract. 9.3. Reselling the door or
other items does not negate the responsibility for restocking fees. The client is liable for these
fees as agreed upon in the original contract.
10. Parts Breakage During Service
10.1. While performing repairs, there is a risk that certain parts may break due to pre-existing
wear, damage, or the nature of the repair process. 10.2. Garage Door Fix is not responsible for
parts that break during the service. We will notify the client immediately if such an incident
occurs and discuss the necessary steps to resolve the issue, which may include additional
repairs or part replacements at the client’s expense.
11. Non-Refundable Deposits
11.1. Deposits made for services, parts, or special orders are non-refundable.
11.2. The non-refundable deposit secures your place in our schedule and covers initial
administrative and logistical costs.
11.3. Clients who cancel or change their service after making a deposit will forfeit the deposit
amount.
12. Time Estimates for New Materials
12.1. Time estimates provided for the delivery of new materials are approximate and subject to
change.
12.2. Delivery times are influenced by factors outside of our control, such as supplier availability,
shipping logistics, and other unforeseen delays. 12.3. Garage Door Fix will make every effort to
communicate any changes in delivery times promptly and work with clients to adjust schedules
as necessary.
13. Compliance with Canadian Safety Regulations
13.1. Garage Door Fix adheres strictly to Canadian safety regulations during all installations and
repairs.
13.2. This includes the proper installation of safety sensors, ensuring that the job site is kept
clear and safe, and following all relevant guidelines to protect our technicians and clients.
13.3. Clients are expected to maintain a safe environment for our technicians to work, including
keeping the job site clear of unnecessary obstacles and hazards. For the safety of both our
technicians and clients, the area in which our technician is working will be considered their
designated workspace. To maintain a safe and efficient environment, residents may be asked to
remain inside their home during the service. This ensures compliance with insurance and
liability guidelines and allows our technicians to focus on delivering the highest quality of work
without distraction.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1. Garage Door Fix will not be held liable for any damages or injuries resulting from the
misuse, abuse, or improper operation of garage doors or related equipment.
14.2. We shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special
damages arising from the use or inability to use our services or any products or parts provided
by us.
14.3. Our liability is limited to the amount paid by the customer for the specific service or repair in
question.
14.4.
15. Ice/Snow buildup removal
15.1 To ensure the safe and effective servicing of your door, the threshold must be clear of snow
and ice upon our arrival.
15.2 If our technician needs to remove snow or ice to access or balance the door, additional
charges will apply. Please note that snow and ice removal falls outside the scope of our
services, as we are not equipped for landscaping or related tasks. We kindly ask homeowners
to ensure the area is prepared prior to our visit to avoid delays or extra costs
16. Client and Customer Alignment
16.1. Garage Door Fix values integrity, respect, and professionalism in all interactions and
transactions. We reserve the right to choose our customers and decline to perform service if we
determine that the values of the customer do not align with our own or if we believe that
providing the service would compromise our principles.
16.2. Instances where we may exercise this right include, but are not limited to, situations
involving discriminatory behavior, abusive or threatening language, unreasonable demands, or
any other behavior that contradicts our commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and
professional environment for our staff and other customers.
16.3. If we decide to decline service, we will inform the customer of our decision and, if
applicable, refund any payments made in advance for the declined service. This right to refuse
service ensures that we can maintain the high standards and ethical practices that our business
is built upon.
17. On-Site Authorization
17.1 We understand that the individual present during our service visit may not always be the
one who booked the appointment.
17.2 If the individual booking the appointment will not be on-site and requests a call from our
technician upon arrival, it is their responsibility to ensure they are available and able to take the
call promptly. Our technicians cannot be expected to wait for extended periods to receive
